Engineering & Project Management for Renewable Energy Projects
Delivering Sustainable Energy Infrastructure in Africa Through Local and International Collaboration
Executive Summary
AQRESS supported a client to deliver complex renewable energy projects by providing engineering and project management services. This was specifically for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) integrating with renewable generation assets, including wind farms and solar farms. While these mega projects are still in progress, they demonstrates our capability to mobilize specialist engineering and project delivery resources in support of sustainable energy infrastructure within the African context.
As renewable energy deployment accelerates across Africa over the next 5–10 years, the demand for skilled renewable energy and grid-integration expertise is expected to rise sharply. AQRESS’ approach emphasizes multidisciplinary capability and collaboration between local and international firms to ensure sound engineering design, robust project management, and effective execution that align with client’s standards and specifications.
Project Overview
Project Team & Delivery Model
Delivering renewable energy projects requires tight coordination across engineering disciplines, project controls, and delivery leadership. AQRESS assembled a multidisciplinary team model to support the client and strengthen delivery confidence in a complex, evolving technical environment with multiple stakeholders to manage including international EPC's, subcontractors, and local communities.
The Challenge: Scaling Green Energy in the African Context
Why Collaboration is Critical
Strong collaboration between clients and both local and international firms is more critical than ever to ensure sound engineering design and the on-time delivery of critical energy infrastructure in line with the client’s quality and safety standards. This collaborative approach enables effective knowledge and technology transfer, strengthens local manufacturing capability, enhances engineering assurance, and helps address the shortage of specialized expertise while enabling delivery at scale as the renewable energy market accelerates across Africa
Delivery Approach
Our teams have demonstrated the ability to contribute across the engineering and project management lifecycle supporting engineering design, contract management, planning rigor, cost control, schedule coordination, and quality outcomes aligned to sustainable infrastructure delivery.
1. Engineering Design Support
Mobilising Design Engineers and BESS Specialists to support sound engineering design suitable for integration with wind and solar farms, taking into account project interfaces and execution constraints.
2. Project Management & Coordination
Providing highly experienced Project Managers to structure delivery governance, coordinate stakeholders, manage interfaces, and support execution planning to enable consistent decision-making and delivery alignment.
3. Project Controls & Commercial Support
Supporting the project with Project Planners, Quantity Surveyors and other project support teams to strengthen schedule discipline, cost management, reporting, and risk visibility which is critical for large, fast-moving renewable energy programs.
